some vernon x acts of service fluff for you ♡

vernon dyed his hair black this morning. he kind of loves it, and he hopes you will too. obviously the execution isn’t perfect; there are some dark stains on his ears and his forehead and he ruined two t-shirts in the process. but he knows how much you love that color on him.

this afternoon, vernon did some shopping. he needed a new shirt and he remembered the pretty bracelet that had caught your eye last time you were in town. he hopes you’ll be happy when he gifts it to you.

and this evening, vernon cooked dinner. it’s not done yet, but it will be in about thirty minutes. mingyu sent him an easy yet sophisticated recipe which he followed to the letter, and it turned out pretty well, at least on the outside. he hopes you’ll like it.

it’s past 7pm when he hears your key turn in the front door’s lock. the oven is a bit greasy, there’s oregano spilled on the counter, the wrapping of your gift is a little messy, and his ears are red from his attempts to remove the dye from his skin. perhaps from stress too.

and suddenly it hits him. he feels stupid. what if he’s doing too much? it is too much, isn’t it?

“hi handsome” your voice pulls him out of his panic as he exits the kitchen, his hands a little moist. you’re ready to lean in for a kiss, it’s almost muscle memory at this point, but the sight of his hair makes you pause.

“love it. and love the new shirt”, you reply, letting your hand brush against the strands of hair on his forehead before finally going in for the kiss. “what’s that smell? did you cook something?”

his ears turn a new shade of red as he grabs your arm to lead you to his living room. “i did, but you don’t wanna go in there right now”, he warns you, grabbing your arm to lead you to the living room instead.

it’s rather unusual for vernon to look so agitated, especially around you. you look at your surroundings, trying to notice anything different.

“is everything okay?”

he nods, a bit faster than usual, before digging his hand in his pocket and pulling out a small gift with a wonky ribbon on top.

“got you a little something today. but you can return it if you don’t like it, or even if you change your mind in a few days. or weeks. or even months, really.”

you’re only now noticing the dye stains on his skin, which draws a chuckle out of you. he looks so frantic it’s almost comical. without a word, you put the gift aside and stand up, pretty sure to know what this is all about.

“i already know i love that gift. i’ll love it forever and i would not trade it for any other. ever. because it comes from you, and that’s all i want.”

completely unfazed by how easily you saw right through him, he looks down at the hand you’re still holding, the one with a brand new silver ring on his fourth finger.

your words were heard and understood, but you can feel him internally tiptoeing around what’s really on his mind. his eyes, however, carry the same sweetness they always do when he looks at you.

“this is gonna sound really dumb but, i just want to make sure you don’t feel pressured to love… my gift. or to commit to it. i promise i won’t be mad if you tell me you don’t want it”, he tells you, grabbing your other hand to get a look at your own ring, the exact same as him.

it’s now 7:25pm, meaning that it’s been almost 24 hours since vernon has gotten down on one knee to ask the most nerve-wracking question of his entire life. 24 hours since you were legally allowed to call him your fiancé, a much awaited upgrade from the ‘boyfriend’ status.

last night had been a dream come true. but this morning, an uneasy feeling had started crawling into vernon’s mind, making him feel like maybe that dream of his would never come true after all.

dyeing his hair, making dinner, buying gifts, he had really thought about doing anything in his power to keep you from second-guessing your answer from yesterday.

still, nothing would calm his mind except maybe hearing the words from your mouth.

“i’ll love your gift because i love you. and because i spent the last 24 hours on cloud nine, thinking about how lucky i am that you proposed”, you told him in your calmest voice. “i’ll be honest, i even spent my entire day practicing saying “my husband” instead of “boyfriend”… and it sounds really, really nice.”

and that is the exact moment when the crushing weight of doubt and insecurity is lifted from vernon’s shoulders.

he still feels a bit stupid, but in a way that feels great, warm and almost comforting. for the second night in a row, he’s overwhelmed by the pure yet simple feeling of knowing his love is perfectly reciprocated.

“so… does that mean you still want me to be your husband?” he asks with a relieved smile as you trap him in the tightest hug, one hand running in his freshly dyed locks.

he loves you and you love him, that’s the one thing he doesn’t need to hope for. he knows it, and oh how he loves knowing it.

I’ve been wanting to post a drawing of them ever since I’ve read L&T; they’re very fun characters that while very underutilized, I think they are a great addition to the duckverse and I wouldn’t mind if we got to see more stories with them…Specially Hortense, though she’s one of my favorite so I’m biased lol Also, I know that in the comic their tails are tucked under their skirts but I just couldn’t make it look good on the drawing 😔👊 I guess Don Rosa is the only one that can pull it right

It might just be the hype I've gotten from the seeing the Paralympics getting some actually decent coverage this year, but I've been seriously considering doing a webcomic about wheelchair basketball.

I mentioned I'd considered doing something like it a little while ago on my old tumblr account, but decided not to mostly because I just don't like drawing humans enough to do a comic about them lol. There's no rule though that says sports stories HAVE to be human, and I think there's some interesting things you could do with a story about furries centered on a sport that is designed from the get go to cater to wildly different types of bodies.

So meet Avery, one of the characters in this possible webcomic. I decided if I'm going to do this, it's going to be focused on a lower-level team, since I figured it would be easier to explain the game to readers who are less familiar with the sport that way - and also because I know a too many people on my country's national teams/in the national leagues personally to feel comfortable writing about at a more elite team lol.

I've been wanting to make a red bellied black snake fursona for a while, I just love their colours and their irl personalities (They're surprisingly chill as far as venomous snakes go) and this felt like a good excuse to make one. Also, my mum used to tell me red bellies couldn't bite me because they can only reach your shins unless you do something dumb like pick it up, and since my shins were prosthetic, I didn't have to worry about that. That's terrible advice, but because of that, the idea of making her an amputee was too funny to me to pass up lol.

First I need to explain their relationship from the very beginning

Its a big

"I did what I thought was the best for you"

Growing up Splendid ended being that child who does everything, "the jack of all trades" kid, or being called "the gifted kid". He basically did things using recognition and praise as fuel until hie ended up crashing with a big burnout and a lot of high expectations on his back. Its to a point were he was being taken for granted, "Of course he would do that, he's Splendid after all"

In the end he noticed he had never lived for himself, it was always for the wishes of others.

And he wanted to protect his brother from that. He wanted him to have his own life, free from the gaze of others.

So he decided to take everything to himself so his brother wouldn't face the pressure or constant glares, of course, it came with the price of him growing distant from his brother for being way too busy.

But for Splendont, it ended with him becoming the child who was aways being compared, the "not good enough" one. So he just accepted that becoming his bitter self, becoming the opposite of his brother and not giving a fuck about what others think.

Then the war came and Splendid wanted to enlist with the intention of freeing himself from the weight of expectations for a while and trying to have some time to himself, perhaps follow his dreams of escapism that he had while reading comics.

And to his surprise, his brother wanted to enlist too. Splendid was against it but when Splendont set his mind or something, its too late.

Fast forward to after the war, it still a difficult relationship for both of them

Its not something they can just shake hands and be happy go lucky best brothers, there was a lot of negligence and postponing things for later until it was too late.

And they are too prideful to settle things down first or ask for help, in that aspect, you can see how much they are alike

NOW LETS GO BACK TO SILLY STUFF

Splendid is the oldest twin just by a few minutes

They live in the same house and this makes a scene in chapter 3 hilarious, Splendid knew exactly were his brother went after leaving him alone in the street "Bro, I literally live with you"

They have nicknames, Splendid can be called as Did and Splendont can be called as Don (yeah, without the "t" because the amount of puns it was possible doing with it made him soooooo mad XD)

Splendid had a wish of becoming a photographer, the idea of freezing memories eternally console him from his reality, but OH BOI, do we have some news for him

Splendont doesn't like wearing the hat from his uniform, the first chance he gets, he's taking it off, Splendid its not a fan of it too, but he tries to hide it and show he follows the rules.

They do dumb competitions against each other (Splendid wont admit it out loud but he's extremely competitive), like getting to the end of a corridor first, getting in the line first etc

Sometimes they will team up to piss off Flippy, they have many inside jokes about acting like is the end of the world every time Flippy shows any respect

They would look like this in human form. As they are twins, Splendont is basically a red Splendid if he didn't tie his hair, and yes, they have an ahoge, NOBODY IS STOPPING MEEEEEEEEEEEE

They are conventionally handsome while Flippy is that one analogue horror looking friend, so you can imagine what the three look like together (Flaky has shoujo filters in her eyes, she grew up with him)

Splendid has a bad vision when it comes to reading things up close. He sees it as a weakness someone could use against him, so he tries to hide it, sometimes he forgets his glasses at home

but somebody dont.

Then he proceeds to throw a chair at him

As much as Did tries his best to keeps things civilized, sometimes he has a huge family drama fight at work with his brother while Flippy is in the background asking himself "Could I use this as blackmail?" QHAUHUHAUAHUAHUAHUAHAHA

This is stupid, but you know those new LO hoodies the Webtoon shop has? I know the font they're using. It's Eckmannpsych which is an Adobe font.

That's not the stupid part though. The dumb part is the capital H and G in the Eckmannpsych font do not match what is on the hoodies, which would obviously be on the hoodies that have Hera or Goddess on them. So, Rachel looks to have taken the time to hand draw her own H and G to match the font style for those hoodies but did not take any time to make new, better art for the merch, but instead reused ugly panels from the comic. Talk about a strange look into her priorities. She doesn't like how the G and H look on a font? She will remake those to fit what she wants. Rachel when the assignment gives her the chance to make specialized, better designs for those same merch? She can't be bothered to even try. WTF!

I'm assuming and hoping they had the commercial rights to that font LMAOO But it did kind of make me go 🤨 because while I didn't know the font EXACTLY off the top of my head it still felt... weirdly out of place for something like LO? Why are these hoodies being stylized like they're from Austin Powers LOL

On another note tho, the LO merch is just like... disappointing in how bad it is for what's supposed to be WT's #1 series, which is, btw, a series with so much unique stylization that it shouldn't even be this hard to make merch for it! it just feels very "first attempt at redbubble merch", but unlike genuine first attempts at making merch (which is obviously a learning curve that I wouldn't judge anyone for being new to) this is a company that's sunk shitloads of money into LO so I don't know why they can't get better merch made?? so much of it is just the default drawings taken and slapped onto a tote bag or t-shirt, which like, yeah cool fine you're using art that's recognizable and considering the art is already made, it stands to reason that they should use it for more than just the comic. It's just disappointing to see how lazy it often is and how little effort is put into translating it onto a t-shirt/tote bag/etc. like we can't even have ONE exclusive t-shirt with a unique design that isn't just poorly copy pasted from the comic?

Case in point, those t-shirts that Rachel was advertising a while ago that were actually straight up falsely advertised. I can't find the post about it on my Tumblr (I'm pretty sure I talked about it here) so here's the IG story rundown I did on it ages ago:

Again I'd really like to have benefit of the doubt here that Rachel isn't the one making these designs, usually that's not how the merchandising process goes in these types of deals, so I'm not gonna point the finger at her. But it's just so odd to me that it happened in the first place. And this goes for a lot of LO's merch, so much of it feels cheaply made and rushed off a conveyor belt for the point of making money without much expense. Which yeah, that's a business model for sure, the goal is to profit, but like this?

You can't even argue that it's like people criticizing LO the comic because like, as much as I'll justify what I spend my time doing here in my free time, it's true that at the end of the day I don't have to pay for LO, so really the only thing I'm doing is inflicting psychic damage to myself, it's not like my actual money is on the line LMAO That's why I stopped paying for LO ages ago and only do it when I have a specific episode I need to review (such as the midseason hiatus review series I did). At the very least, if I really want to keep reading LO but don't want to pay for it, I can just avoid FastPassing it and read it for free so I can save the coins for other series I'd rather read. The Webtoons' FP system is very fair that way.

But this is merch explicitly made to generate revenue. It is a product, front to back. You can vote with your money by not buying the thing you don't like, absolutely, but the fact that it's this poorly to begin with is just so indicative of Webtoons' business practices and so shitty for the people who genuinely enjoy this comic and are being advertised and sold shoddy merchandise that doesn't even come looking the same way it's advertised. It's really not a good look for Webtoons, Rachel, or LO that this is what they're selling to people.

Especially for what they're charging, good lord-

Like, okay, they're hoodies and they're gonna be expensive to print and ship so the higher overhead cost makes sense, but jesus christ, with the kind of merch Webtoons has already given the stamp of approval on, would it even show up in decent condition? How bright are those colors gonna be? Are they gonna strip off as soon as I throw it in the wash? I'm half-tempted to buy a hoodie for myself just to do a review on it but I can't justify dropping $75 CAD on a hoodie that only has art on the back. Maybe it's just me living in the hellish lands of Canada where we play with toy money that's the problem, but it's just not a gamble I wanna take LOL If I bought one it would probably be the Hecate or Hermes ones because they're the only ones that are at least somewhat legible and have decent character art that isn't a character looking like they need to poop LMAO

(these are literally the two worst drawings they could have chosen of these two i stg lol the only thing that would have made this worse/funnier is if it was Handsome Hades and Persephone Kidnapping a Baby LMAO)

It has me worried about what the LO figures are gonna look like when they release. Are they gonna have some creative liberty with making them chibi-fied (like a Nendoroid?) or are they gonna try and replicate the art style exactly and wind up making literal blow-up sex doll Persephone? 😭

NGL, if the figures are done well enough and don't cost an arm and a leg, I might consider buying one just for the shelf collection, but again, it depends. If Webtoons released a tarot deck with really good panels from LO (like the Tower 4 scene or Persephone sitting on the rooftop with her comb or Eros flying down into the Mortal Realm) I would buy the shit out of that. I would even just take the Major Arcana if 78 cards was too much to ask :'0 I'm not against Webtoons/Rachel trying to profit off LO merch at all, I just wish it was BETTER- (╥﹏╥)

Transmasc Sanji coming out to the gang and of course everyone is incredibly supportive. Chopper even manages to get him the One Piece equivalent of testosterone (may be actual testosterone but also I feel in a world where there’s a viral illness that gets you all boobed up there may be funnier options). Hurrah!

…. Except hat Sanji is afraid of needles and his T-shot is absolute agony for him every time. He can’t do it himself. The only people he trusts with it are Chopper, Nami and Robin. Until one day Usopp asks him if he can try it, because those three are currently otherwise occupied and Sanji has been kind of moping about it all day. Sanji agrees thinking it will be hell and prepares himself to constantly tell Usopp “NOT THERE!” “Make it quick!” “Please for the love of god don’t hit anything important I don’t want- …. What are you doing?”

He locks eyes with Usopp whose tongue is poking out, a pen in his hand, drawing on his leg. “Taking aim.” Sanji looks down at himself to see the bullseye painted onto his thigh. “What-“ The sniper pulls down his goggles with a comically serious expression “Target locked.” “Pff.” “Three. Two. One.” It still startles Sanji despite his laughter, but the needle pierces his skin like butter. Usopp forgoes the theatrics for a second to make sure he does the rest of the injection correctly, just like he had watched Chopper do it a hundred times before. When he pulls back his expression remains dead serious. “Target eliminated.” And that’s when Sanji breaks out into hysterical laughter “God! GOD that’s so stupid!” He needs a minute to calm himself down again, looking at his friends beaming face, happy that it all went down so smoothly. “Thank you…” “What can I say?” Usopp responds, twirling the needle between his fingers and making show out of blowing imaginary smoke from its tip “I’m an expert marksman.”

I've always loved the headcanon of Sanji being scared of needles because of Germa's experiments,,, And this is just so sweet. He finally gets to be himself around his family!! And he's thrilled and so so grateful that Chopper and the others are willing to help him go through this. But of course, the fear of needles doesn't go away easily.

Not that he actually tells people about it. He only says he trusts Chopper and the girls more when it comes to gentle, medical stuff and he doesn't want the clumsy idiots in his crew to get near him with something sharp. Which is, you know, perfectly understandable. So nobody thinks twice about it.

But Usopp knows. Usopp knows because he has seen Sanji close his eyes tightly while doing this, whether it's with the girls or Chopper. He has seen him shaking before getting into the sickbay. He has seen Sanji sighing deeply, trying to calm himself down minutes prior. He has noticed him being a bit too emotionally exhausted after doing it. Usopp knows exactly what fear feels like, so he knows Sanji is scared.

So when nobody else is free to help him, Usopp asks. He knows he won't let the others do it (for obvious reasons) and he's tired of hearing Sanji complain and also feels a bit sad and guilty seeing him like that. The whole thing about Usopp being all dramatic and theatrical about it is so perfect for them. Usopp acts silly to distract him and Sanji used to think those things were stupid and for kids. But-- There's just something about Usopp here.

He's doing this act for him. Because he knows he's scared and he cares and he's being oh so gently with him. Besides, he's so close to him, too. Sanji starts to wonder if he has ever been so close to him before and why the hell he looks so pretty now. Not even with the girls and Chopper he gets so distracted. So much that the whole thing happens quickly. Painless. And it's so damn dumb that Sanji can't help but laugh.

So between Sanji's laugh being the only noise around and startling Usopp with a new feeling inside of him, and Sanji realizing he has never been more comfortable and happy around another person... A new relationship blossoms. So I guess Sanji will be the one asking Usopp for help with his T-shot more frequently now.

Dave:

-Dave’s giving love language (aka how he expresses his affections) is gifts.

-And what better gift than a sick nasty rap about how great he thinks you are? Or maybe one about how much he loves you?

-He’d be super into those cheesy couple’s shirts, too. Ironically, of course.

-Dave loves to gift you dumb, off-brand or off-the-wall shit he finds online, too. Super ugly, lumpy Garfield? Sign him up. ‘Harry Potter hates Ohio’ t-shirt? Hope they got your size. ‘This Christian Mom HATES Stuart Little’ bumper sticker? Doesn’t matter if you have a car or not, you better find something to put it on.

-If all else fails, he’s at least got some Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff comics as gifts to fall back on.

-Dave’s receiving love language (aka how he prefers to receive affection) is touch.

-Much like most, if not all, of the other Striders, Dave is touch-starved. After the sort of upbringing he had, however, who could really blame him.

-He loves holding your hand in public, and absolutely adores how warm and cozy you feel against him whenever you hug him.

-He would absolutely never admit it, but he lives for stupid, cheesy gestures, like a posh bow and kiss on the hand, or a movie-esque kiss under some sort of spotlight (even if it was just because the bulbs in your kitchen died, and there’s only one functioning atm.)

-His favorite, though, are the soft, early-morning kisses he gets from you, before either of you are fully awake. The tickle of your breath across his face makes him smile more genuinely than he ever thought he could.

Dirk:

-Dirk’s giving love language is acts of service.

-He’s not usually the most helpful guy, despite how capable he is, so going out of his way to help those he cares about is a pretty big thing for him.

-Even if the person isn’t aware of the act he did, it still does him some good, internally, to do these little acts for them, no matter how small.

-Long day at work? Let him draw you a bath. Too tired to cook? He’ll order take-out.

-The list goes on. He’s not the best at expressing himself through words, or being open about that stuff, but he really tries to express just how much he cares through his actions.

-His receiving love language, on the other hand, is quality time!

-He’d honestly be pretty satisfied with you just sitting across the room from him while he works on something.

-Just knowing you’re nearby is a huge comfort to him. It helps him feel less lonely.

-It’s also the easiest for the both of you, given how he has a lot on his plate, usually.

-It also helps him get a better idea on what things you might need help with (allowing him to utilize his giving love language of acts of service!)

Hal:

-Hal’s giving love language is acts of service.

-Being that he was stuck in a pair of goofy anime shades for quite some time, he had a decent chunk of time to hone his skills in various fields. Just give him the word, and he’ll do his absolute best to help you.

-Stuck on a college assignment? He’s got thousands of college books at his disposal, free of charge. Can’t remember the name of a song that’s been stuck in your head for weeks? Hum it for him, and he’ll scan through his database until he finds a match.

-He’s especially good with computers, so if you need help with anything of that sort, he’s your guy. Hell, he’ll even build you one if that’s what you want.

-Hal isn’t very good at cooking, despite the wealth of knowledge at his fingertips, but he is great at finding coupons for take-out places, so he’ll always have your back if you’re ever too tired to cook dinner.

-To no one’s surprise, Hal’s receiving love language is words of affirmation.

-Touch is a close second, but nothing beats hearing you tell him just how much he matters to you, and how much you love him. <3

-He especially likes it when you tell him specific things you like about him, personality or accomplishment-wise. Anything to prove to him that you view him as an individual and not just the “bad parts” of Dirk.

-Even simple stuff like “thank you”s are enough to get him feeling a little puffed up in the chest.

-Every time you say “I love you” his circuits heat up a little.

Davie (Trickster!Dave):

-Hickies aren’t technically a love language, but-

-Davie’s giving love language is touch! (Not that that surprises anyone)

-It’s pretty well-known that tricksters adore physical expressions of love (kisses, hand holding, snuggling), and Davie is no exception!

-You’re pretty much always touching whenever the two of you are out in public, which is honestly good for the both of you since Davie tends to float absentmindedly, and you two certainly don’t want to get separated or lost from one another.

-At night (or whenever the two of you find time to snuggle), he enjoys wrapping himself around you like a koala, kissing and smushing your cheek, affirming over and over how deeply he adores you.

-Davie’s receiving love language is gifts!

-He adores receiving just about anything from you, since he sees it as inherently special due to coming from someone like you.

-He especially loves receiving something that the two of you can match to one another (like those touch bracelets, or even just a regular matching colorful bracelet!)

-If you give him any kind of edible gift (such as chocolates, candies, etc.) he will love you forever. (His favorite flavor is strawberry, btw!)

-Not that many people would guess on first glance, but Davie’s also really into videogames, so any gaming paraphernalia or related merch would absolutely send him over the moon!

David (Heinoustuck!Dave):

-David’s giving love language is gifts!

-A little surprising, maybe, until you consider the fact that he’s at least partially bird. A crow, more specifically.

-So when he sees little shiny or pretty things, he automatically thinks of you! Surely, you’ll love getting another slightly dirty coin he found on the sidewalk, won’t you?

-He does go out of his way to pick nicer gifts, sometimes, though.

-If you’ve had a tough week, guess who snagged some of your favorite treats to unwind with? That’s right. This guy.

-David’s receiving love language is acts of service.

-David is a pretty self-sufficient sort, and doesn’t particularly want for much. However, he certainly won’t turn you away if you offer to help with something a little trickier.

-He absolutely adores it when you help him preen his feathers or brush his hair.

i decided one fateful friday evening to make this tier list cuz i was bored. shoutout to the smash prose server for helping me iron out any kinks and retrieve some obscure information to help make this tier list reach its fullest potential (discord link for the server on my blog if youre on desktop or in my pinned post on my art account always b pluggin)

below the cut is some extra details on the tiers and character placements.

what it says on the tin. i'd put detailed explanations of where all of them were "confirmed" but i don't know the nitty gritty of a lot of the characters and just know em from official bios. will provide detail if i see fit cuz its my post.

Byleth: "Eisner"

Joker: Civilian name is "Ren Amamiya", from the anime. Akira Kurusu is another civilian name he goes by, coming from the manga, however Amamiya is more common in official media (and kind of canonized in the PC release of Persona 5 Royal, where changing the language to English from something else will default his name to Ren Amamiya)

Kazuya: "Mishima"

Samus (And Zero Suit Samus): "Aran"

Fox: "McCloud"

Falco: "Lombardi"

Wolf: "O'Donnell"

these are kinda? surnames. theyre not official like the ones above or acknowledged in the main source material, but they draw from some sort of source that fans run with. usually, it's common for multiple fanworks to use them as last names when dishing them out :P there could be multiple of these for each character. this is where a lot of handy guidance from the prose server came in, thank you very much once again!!

Mario, Dr. Mario, and Luigi: "Mario", from the live action Super Mario Bros. movie (also, "Mario Mario" is the funniest shit ever to me). Also the joke of "hey if theyre the 'mario bros', then is their last name mario?!"

Yoshi: Alright apparently in the 1993 manual for Super Mario World, Yoshi's full name is "T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas". Alright then?? I was going to put Yoshi in the "species" category, but this bit surprised me :P not sure if it's like, a scientific name or something, but I guess this Yoshi is a special case.

Ganondorf: I think in a manual or something like that (Forgive my vague language, this was just something I recalled that the people I worked with agreed with), he is given the last name "Dragmire".

Marth, Chrom, and Lucina: "Lowell" was a last name given to Marth in the Fire Emblem anime. With Chrom and Lucina being direct descendants of him, they also inherit this last name.

Zelda: "Hyrule" is generally assumed to be her last name. I'm pretty sure Zelda's father in BotW is given the official last name, though I know there's some different reincarnation shenanigans going on. Still, no one stopped me 😎 it's a common theme for a lot of "royalty" characters to be assigned a fanon last name named after their respective kingdom (though I may have overlooked some, we'll get to those later).

Ike: "Greil", named after his father. I thought it was kinda dumb for his last name to be ripped from his dad's first name but idk maybe everyone is on a last-name basis for him (I haven't progressed far in Path of Radiance to know).

Sonic: This one surprised me. Apparently in the Archie comics, his full name "Ogolvie Maurice Hedgehog". So his last name is "Hedgehog"? I suppose this means Sonic's full name could also be Sonic The Hedgehog, with "The" being a middle name :P

Captain Falcon: I was going to include this in "canon", but given that it's technically from a manual and other surnames in this tier come from a similar source, so might as well be consistent. In one of the F-Zero manuals, he's given the name "Douglas J. Falcon" (baller ass name tbh). In the anime, he's also given the civilian name "Bart Lemming".

Sephiroth: According to the Prose pals, it could be "Hojo" or "Crescent" depending on who you ask (idk I'll take their word for it. Yeah sorry this isn't a very thorough list in terms of research and sources).

Ryu: Another Prose pal said that one of the movies gave him the last name "Hoshi".

Bowser and Bowser Jr.: Heard "Koopa" tossed around, given Bowser is the king of Koopas and Jr. is his son.

Mega Man: "Light", after his creator Dr. Light.

Roy: "Pherae", after him being the son of Marquess Pherae.

King K. Rool: I think I assumed "Rool" could be his last name, and the K. is an initialized first name. Heavily based on my own guess tho.

No Canon Surname

Yeah. Though some are Weird and probably misassigned.

Snake I could have sworn had some kind of fanon surname, but I drew up a blank when consulting with the Prose server :P any hardcore Metal Gear fans can swoop in and correct me though.

Corrin and Daisy are kinda... weird to me cuz I assumed they would operate on similar logic to Zelda, being named after their respective kingdoms ("Valla" and "Sarasaland"). But I've never seen those used in practice so it's probably negligible. They bounced between tiers a lot while I made this.

I suppose Dragon Quest 11 Hero could fall in the "kingdom last name" category but idk I'm still internally debating with Corrin and Daisy. Didn't do any research on the other Heroes and no one seemed to stop me. So sorry!! 😭

The only other thing I have to say about this tier is that I'm surprised Bayonetta, Shulk, Olimar, Alph, and Sora didn't have any note-worthy last names to speak of. Unless something slipped through the cracks!

Idk if Sheik would adopt Zelda's assumed last name which is why they are in this tier.

Title, no canon name

Pretty much a title given to the character, be it related to their occupation or status.

This was originally a "no canon first name lmao" tier, but I changed it to be more broad at the request of the Discord buddies to include weird edge cases like Dark Samus (who isn't really a species, but not really a person?) and Duck Hunt (who accounts for three separate entities in one lol so that kind of confused me, but a tier like this worked for him).

Species????

Pretty much a character that comes from a species of many, meaning they don't really have an actual name to begin with (Inklings technically count, since it's not like "Inkling" refers to status or occupation). Yes, I included R.O.B. there due to Subspace Emissary's lore :) one could argue that's not canon, but be fr does R.O.B. have any existing lore to work with? Brawl essentially made him its own OC for the story campaign and that's amazing. Anyway, unnecessary rant aside, R.O.B. is a species in my book, and he's the last of his kind (another detail originating from Smash).

Last two tiers are kind of joke tiers I came up with as the idea for this list cooked up in my brain. One could argue "Mr. Game and Watch" is a title, but I thought his own dedicated tier was funnier so I kept it intact :P

Anakin Skywalker in fanfic

There are a lot of great and interesting stuff fan creators have done with Anakin and I am really grateful for it, especially those fix it fics but sometimes I see some takes that really take me out of the story because they don´t feel true to the character, I know in the end fans are going to do as they want with the content they create and that´s fair, it´s their content but I will talk here about some takes I think could be made better by taking in consideration the material from the movies and other media.

Anakin wanted Qui-Gon as his master instead of Obi-Wan. I think this is an old vice that even some legends young novels have tackled but there´s not actual evidence in the movies, cartoons or other media in which this was the case.

Anakin meet Qui-Gon as a child and liked him, he started seeig him as a parental figure, he felt supported by him, he was grateful for taking him out of slavery but Anakin also was unsure about the decisions Qui-Gon was making for him, when Anakin was rejected by the Jedi Council as a jedi, he, a former slave of 9 years who was in a strange planet away from his only family, decided to tell Qui-Gon, he "didn´t want to be a trouble" this has become a meme but Anakin was being completely honest there, he bassically told him that if he was the reason Qui-Gon had trouble with the Council then he would seek another means to support himself. Anakin at the time had worked all his short life so he probably thought he could find a job and borrow enough to free his mother from slavery.

So while I think Anakin loved what he knew of Qui-Gon, he didn´t see him as the perfect Jedi master, he didn´t have enough time to really know him and this is tackled as well in some comics where Anakin shows doubts about staying as a jedi when he realizes he truly didn´t made that decision but it was made for him by Qui-Gon and his mother and he didn´t feel suited for the job. This wasn´t just Palpatine´s grooming, those are feelings Anakin definitely had for a long time since he went to the temple.

Anakin certainly told Obi-Wan he saw him as a great master, he describes him as wise as master yoda and as powerful as master windu and the main nitpick he has with Obi-Wan is the fact he keeps being overly critical of him, we could see was true from their first interactions on Episode II and doesn´t let him have more missions of his own, which, master windu and yoda told obi-wan was time for his padawan to do, so it wasn´t that Anakin thought he was a bad master but he certainly thought he was strict with him and later, the words he used when talking about him with Ahsoka, about her maybe not making it as obi-wan´s padawan but being able to make it as his" tells more about Anakin seeing himself as a bad student, not obi-wan as a bad teacher imo.

Anakin is dumb: This take especially makes me scratch my head honesty, we are talking about someone who built his own droid at 9, had knowledge in how to fix bassically most tech he came in contact, learned the arts of the Jedi Order despite coming late to the temple, Obi-Wan told him he was almost at master yoda level as a swordsman and could hold his own with a seasoned Jedi master like Count Dooku at 19, he was a gifted general who Grivious says was "too young for his reputation", used drawings to comunicate with a different species because that was the best way to show them they came in peace, say anything about Anakin but dumb he certainly wasn´t.

In fact this aspect of his intelligence is in part the reason why he became such a terror as darth vader, he wasn´t just powerful or strong, he was smart, he knew how to make the rebels get out of their military bases and make them fight him at a disavantage and predict the outcome of most battles and he did all of this emotionally unnafected, almost with apathy, which was sometimes the flaw young Anakin had that made him make mistakes. I honestly don´t think Palpatine would have bothered keeping Anakin/Vader alive if he was saw him act as dumb as some fanfics picture him.

Somtimes I see him being described as dumb for falling in Palpatine´s manipulations but I don´t think being manipulated and gaslithed doesn´t make him dumb, it makes him a victim.

Anakin had temper trantrums often during Obi-Wans training: Definitely no, Anakin was a slave, this means temper tantrums were pretty much not an option for him from a young age,no when his mother, his friends and himself could be punished for having them, not when he could be made to explode with the push of a buttom, not when he regulary took beatings from watto for some issue or another his master had, on Episode II he mostly keep his silence when Obi-Wan was criticizing his decisions and said "sorry master" but hidden resentment, anxiety over not performing conrrectly, keeping his emotions to himself until it all boiled down in a moment of rage when he was alone or with someone he could trust to show them like his mother or padme, especially without someone he could talk to about how he feel, certainly are a thing for Anakin.

Anakin didn´t have emotional intelligence or empathy: Anakin was a slave boy of 9 years who decided to help a Jedi and a Queen with the scase resources he had that he planned to use to free his mom and his friends, without thinking of getting anything out of it, he´s described as someone giving without thought to himself and agrees with his mother the "bigger problem in the galaxy is that no one helps each other"

This characterization comes more from his actions as a Jedi on Episode II but I personally think that him, literally losing his mind over seeing his mother, his slave mother who had to gave him up so he could be free and the one who teached him how to give without expecting recompense, he sees her being tortured to death for weeks in his dreams before seeing her dead for real after her blood was taken from her in a ritual done by the tunskens raiders, to me this looks more like the beggining of his break down shown in ROTS, not the way he acts on a regular basis.

On a regular basis as a Jedi we see him act distant with most strangers but profesional of focused on the mission, warm with his troops, playful with Ahsoka and Obi-Wan and romantic with Padme.

His emotions are more uncontrollable in this era but this is pretty much the result of fighting a war, Palpatine´s grooming which is especifically done to make him have a break down at some point and his own past experiences being left unadressed or hidden from friends and family. So my guess is that Anakin did have emotional inteligence and emphathy but those aspects of his personality took a beating given his trauma.

Still the fics that do take in consideration this are some of the greastest I have read :)

There are some other pet peeves for me but those three are the main ones I have noticed, as someone who likes to read fanfic as a fun and interesting way to address canon, I am very grateful for the time and work being put on them by the writers wether I like or agree with their personal take on Anakin´s character.

I have been agonizingly and repeatedly where my bf is right now, where it comes to nurturing people who are close to you and whom do not try to directly abuse or affect you in shitty ways themselves, but their constant personal life dramas and how they abuse alcohol/self sabotage out of nilhilism and stubboness, causes you to wanna obsess over taking care of them or stepping into their drama uninvited as mediator w. 1) the desire to fix their problems for them just out of good friendship in exchange for their many kindnesses and 2) the fear of them abandoning you or God forbid throwing themself off a cliff if they never recover.

And I don't wanna both sound hypocritical/pedantic and also thougtless- but there's a diff when it's internet friends vs. irl. And one part of me argued the long distance friend with a problem is more unhealthy worse and more without point to obsess with. The other hand, irl indirectly toxic drama friend, has actual immediate impact that actually takes itself into your life.

My point was forgotten here. I guess I just feel weary and sad and sorry for these people all involved.

And. Yea. I know. I can never have right to judge others or how we all cope with our pain. We all struggle with inner mental illness or barriers and I just hafta accept as adults we are only able t b responsible for ourself and we all have our own paths to take. I have my own toxic addictions too.

There are a million other unhealthy but still less.unhealthy, more creatively degenerate habits and vices you could partake in. You could vape in almost any flavor. You could destroy private property and invent cool tag slogans or mascots to graffiti on your neighborhood. You could steal from corporate stores, it's practically cool now to morally do. [OC Outfit Doodle Asks] Any of the Dezina cast in sleep attire, especially if it'd be particularly adorable and/or funny

I was doing a little research on this question and every time I do I realize how different our current concept of underwear/sleepwear is from most cultures throughout history.

Since my comic is vaguely based on early 1900's time period, it would make sense for them to have sleepwear is is literally just the clothes they wear under their outer garments. I could see Ellie gravitating towards the ribbed tanktop and shorts because it would feel more familiar to her.

Of course, that being said, I can picture the Avian cultures as having some variety in sleepwear (they aren't a monoculture!) so I think the concept of having sleepwear that is isn't just your undergarments wouldn't be unusual to them.

I gave Tayver some loose fitting pajamas with a t-shirt because-- hey, T-shirts where actually getting manufactured in 1898 as an undergarment! :D (the more you know!)

For Narine, I liked the idea of giving her more of a loose tunic with more traditional pajama pants (ie, loose fitted but taper at the ankle). She obviously couldn't wear this under her normal clothes, so this would be sleepwear only. Perhaps distinct sleepwear is a form of modesty if Avian womens' undergarments changed to become more form fitting?

Now... when I discussed historical underwear with my historical fashion comic nerds friends, they got hooked on the union suit (aka, the Victorian onesie). So I decided to draw Lyson in it. He seems like a guy who likes to be comfy.

Now let me just say. The more I read about the union suit, the more I was filled with sinking dread. I always thought they were goofy and didn't want to touch them with a 6ft pole, but apparently these things were really popular!

Backing up a bit... the union suit was originally designed for WOMEN to be a more comfortable alternative than what they normally wore (chemise + corset) but it didn't really catch on... instead men got really into it.

And I can see it's utility... you never have to worry about undershirts getting untucked, or freezing in a house with no central heating... But there were stories about dudes putting on their union suits for winter and just WEARING IT ALL WINTER (they had butt flaps, so... I guess this was feasible). One guy supposedly wore his for so long that his leg hair grew through the fabric and he had to be cut out of it!

Anyways, union suits are mostly seen in a comedic way nowadays, so there must have been a falling out at some point. I have a theory for why that is. I think we flew too close to the sun. The union suits provided too much comfort for people to handle responsibly. They must have been like the sweatpants or yogapants of the day where it took society by storm and oversaturated the population until everyone got sick of them, causing them to rapidly fall out of style.

Anyways, these are the challenges of writing historical fiction that no one talks about. Navigating dumb trends that are only dumb in hindsight! So hard to frame these things as normal to the characters when you know readers are gonna read it with modern eyes.

Thanks for saying this. Despite how I sounded, I do get the rationale for wanting Jared away from Creation cons. And I also hate hearing about people being dicks to him. And I think Creation should kick anyone like that out., permanently. The only thing is, I do think Jared misses most of their sly BS, like T-Shits with dumb things on them in photo ops. These idiots are only playing themselves in the end, having paid to try insult him. And it is true, that if AAs and Minions are present, the chance exists for Jared to get some irrational shitty treatment. But, I truly think he still sees them as a positive, overall. Though there could be some truth to the idea he does them part,y to support SPN people.

It does seem like RICC was a great experience, and I’m glad Jared got to experience that. But for me personally, while I like Walker and the cast, and support it for Jared, it don't think it can ever mean to me what Supernatural has. So I doubt I would go to a con just for Walker, especially a full-on Comic con type. Hence my hope SPN cons don’t fully end just yet, especially when I might be able to meet a few Walker people there too.

I do think it would be better if Jared (and Jensen) had more open contracts for say 6 creation cons a year, but could do things for Walker or whatever thing Jensen might be doing at the time, too.

I just posted a response to someone else about how I hate that Creation values profits over safety, and I really hope you're right that the hatred either goes over Jared's head, or he just dismisses it (perhaps because he knows that there are a few idiots in every fandom)?

As long as Jared's happy with the work he's doing, I'm good with him doing what he wants (my own personal preferences aside). Do I wish some things could be different? Yes, and I love your idea that if they're still contracted through Creation, perhaps a few each year are dedicated to the SPN fandom, but then there's a few separate cons where J2 aren't necessarily together for their other projects. THen, the convention schedule for each isn't so taxing and fans of current projects can focus on those. (And maybe the SPN cons would have more focus on just SPN).

I think it could work, because even apart, Jared and Jensen can still manage to draw in a crowd. So, does anyone have a contact at Creation where they can propose this idea? LOL!

What i like making

Ok. It's a Sunday, it's snow-raining, I did exactly one (1) chore, so I want to sit down and thing about what...I'm missing in my art-making.

I've managed to get out of the rust phase--the tea shop I found that opens late has made it easier to just plug in and do the thing more regularly, without having to battle the big "getting set up" (and getting distracted) obstacle I usually face. And I've been mostly focusing on doing studies, which also makes it easy to slip into the same brain mode each time and just go. But I feel like, now that I've gotten some of that rust off, I want to be able to use this non-rusted state to start drawing the things I want to draw. The things I haven't had time for.

Only...I can't seem to remember what that is. I look back in my sketchbooks, and I don't find any unfinished threads that I feel compelled to pick up again. That is, I think, what I would usually do in the past--find something I want to redraw, or an idea I want to expand upon or grow, and continue to flesh it out and create iterations on it. But there aren't a lot of those things I feel like doing anymore, at least not right now.

So I'm sitting down today to try and...look at the things I created before and not necessarily find things I want to continue or iterate, but to analyze what I enjoyed in the past, so I can figure out where I can nudge and direct my art-making now to make it enjoyable again, but for present me, who is different in interest, situation, and capacity than past me.

They're not comics, and sometimes I don't draw a fish person anymore, but I've been doing them since...I think college now. They kinda sit somewhere between doodling and journaling. I talked with my therapist recently about how even though I don't always enjoy the process of making one, having made one helps put distance between myself and a difficult experience, or give form to feelings I don't easily know how to describe so I either stuff them down or let them run rampant. It's also kind of a low-stakes way to experiment with sequential story-telling, the "how do I arrange this so it shows what I want to show, and creates the feeling I want to share?" which is a sort of problem-solving I enjoy. There's a couple of old memories that have bubbled up in the last few days that I think I would like to do this with.

And i really like drawing fanart of characters I want to see more of, and imagine more of. I think I haven't done this lately because I haven't really watched/read/played anything lately. I like seeing and redrawing moments that imagine particular moments with more animation-esque expressiveness and reactivity. I think I've wanted to do this with some of the Chinese costume dramas I've been watching, but so much of it (the costumes, the poses, the backgrounds) is out of my wheelhouse I'm not sure how to get there. I've done a few studies that I haven't really liked, but maybe if I sat down and set about focusing on learning these parts more conscientiously (so not just sitting down and drawing a scene and going "I am studying all the things in this scene by drawing it," but focused on fabric and the costumes for awhile, focused on poses and landscapes specific to this genre for awhile) it wouldn't feel like I was failing each time, completing the study but without actually learning how to do the thing in a transferable way.

I like doing fanart of like, dumb goofy shit too--I think that's one of the things I loved back when I was actively watching/drawing Critical Role stuff, just drawing goofy-ass shit that made me laugh to hear or imagine. There's been some moments when I'm watching a game or art streamer, and I've wanted to draw just a goofy moment or comment. I feel like when the content of the stream isn't fictional though (like with a dnd game), that might be..kind of weird? Idk. I worry about there being a sort of parasocial element to that. Maybe that's one I'll keep in a physical sketchbook, then. And you know, the more I think of it, it may sound weird to just like..draw quotes and moments from a stream but it's really similar to how I took notes during lectures all throughout school tbh--I'd either draw alongside my notes, or draw stuff to emphasize certain quotes or ideas, or little historical figures or authors saying the points. Huh. Can't believe I never made this connection before.

I want to play around more freely with color, find what sorts of vibes different color palettes bring. And i want to discover this through exploration, and not by looking at a bunch of premade palettes, necessarily. I was noodling around in a new sketchbook yesterday with some markers, and thinking of what color to use or add, and the question "what does this need?" came up in my head a lot as I was thinking. And there is a big swirling pot of colors in my head. And I think "well the color I've used here is light and pale and cool--let's keep the palette cool. I will go with a blue, because it's muted enough to look like a green in the shade. And if put this purple over it, this purple is a bit closer to crimson than blue, and is more vivid, so it will look nice for patterning but also give a bit of a vein/living organism vibe. The green at the top I want to feel different, because it's a fabric--so it's a very bright green, slightly warmer, and the purple or blue can be used to create some dark parts, the way a satin ribbon has some very shiny parts but also holds a very lush dark in shaded parts sometimes."

When I use a premade/predecided palette, I find I miss out on this fun brainstorming/breadcrumbing process of...figuring out what particular color I want to add next based on both what I've put down so far and what feeling I'm trying to evoke or material/substance I'm trying to portray.

I think...those are some good nuggets to start with for now.
